Travel tools

Free calculators and planning tools to help you prepare for your trip.

Built for travelers

Our tools solve common pre-trip headaches: figuring out time differences and flight durations across zones, building a packing list tailored to your destination and trip length, and comparing costs across booking options. Each tool runs entirely in your browser and we do not collect or store any of your data. More tools coming soon including a jet lag calculator and trip budget planner.

Free tools that simplify trip planning

Travel planning involves a surprising number of small calculations and checklists that can eat up time and create stress. What time will I land in local time? How long is the flight? What should I pack for 10 days in Southeast Asia? How much should I budget for a flight to Tokyo? Our travel tools handle these routine tasks instantly, so you can focus on the exciting parts of trip planning rather than doing timezone math or worrying about forgetting your adapter.

Every tool on GrabFlightsNow is free, requires no sign-up, and works on both desktop and mobile. We built them to solve specific problems that we encountered ourselves as frequent travelers — the Flight Price Calculator was born from frustration with fare estimates that never matched reality, and the Packing Checklist Generator exists because we got tired of arriving in Bali without sunscreen or in Iceland without thermals.

How our flight price calculator works

The Flight Price Calculator provides estimated fare ranges for over 500 route combinations, based on historical pricing data from multiple booking platforms. Unlike live search engines, which show you today's prices, our calculator gives you a broader picture: typical low fares (what a good deal looks like), average fares (what most people pay), and peak fares (what to expect during holidays and high season). This context helps you evaluate whether a price you see on Kiwi.com or Google Flights is actually a deal or just the going rate. The calculator also factors in seasonality, showing how fares shift month by month, and suggests the optimal booking window for each route.

Making the most of the packing checklist

Our Packing Checklist Generator creates a customized packing list based on your destination, trip length, planned activities, and climate. It goes beyond generic packing lists by adjusting for real-world factors — a beach vacation in Thailand requires different items than a city break in Stockholm, and a 3-day weekend needs a different approach than a 3-week backpacking trip. The generator includes categories for clothing, toiletries, electronics, documents, and destination-specific essentials like power adapters, reef-safe sunscreen, or cold-weather layers. You can check items off as you pack and save the list for future trips.

Time zones and flight duration demystified

The Time Zone and Flight Duration Calculator solves two problems at once. First, it calculates the actual flight time between airports accounting for typical wind patterns and routing — eastbound transatlantic flights are shorter than westbound, for example, because of prevailing jet streams. Second, it shows you departure and arrival times in both local time zones, so you can figure out what time you will actually land and plan accordingly. This is especially useful for long-haul flights crossing multiple zones, where the combination of flight time and time change can be genuinely confusing. The tool also flags red-eye flights and helps you understand the jet lag implications of your chosen flight times.

Why we build our own tools

Most travel websites rely on third-party widgets and booking engine embeds for their tools. We took a different approach — our tools are built in-house because we wanted full control over the user experience, no tracking bloat, and instant load times. The Flight Price Calculator does not require an API call to an external service because the pricing data is built into the page itself, making it faster than any live search tool for getting a ballpark estimate. The Packing Checklist Generator works entirely in your browser with no data sent to any server, which means it is fast, private, and works offline once loaded.

These tools are designed to complement, not replace, live search engines. Use our Flight Price Calculator to understand what a fair price looks like for your route and season, then go to Kiwi.com, Google Flights, or Skyscanner to find the actual best fare. Use the Packing Checklist to prepare for your trip after booking, and the Time Zone Calculator to plan your arrival day logistics. Each tool fits a specific moment in the travel planning process where a quick, reliable answer is more valuable than a comprehensive search.

Tools on the roadmap

We are developing additional tools based on the tasks that travelers spend the most time on. Planned additions include a Baggage Fee Calculator that shows the total luggage cost across airlines for your specific trip (comparing the real cost of bringing a checked bag on different carriers), a Jet Lag Recovery Planner that provides a personalized sleep schedule based on your route and direction of travel, and an Airport Connection Timer that calculates whether a specific layover at a given airport is comfortable or risky. These tools will follow the same philosophy — free, fast, private, and designed to answer a specific question clearly.

Integrating tools with your booking workflow

The most effective way to use our tools is as part of a structured booking workflow. Step one: use the Flight Price Calculator to establish a realistic budget for your route and travel dates — this gives you an anchor price so you know whether a fare you see later is a deal or just average. Step two: use Google Flights or Skyscanner to search for actual fares, comparing against your calculator estimate. Step three: once booked, use the Time Zone Calculator to plan your arrival logistics and the Packing Checklist to prepare for departure. This workflow takes about 15 minutes and consistently produces better outcomes than ad-hoc searching, because you start with realistic expectations and make decisions based on data rather than urgency or impulse.

All of our tools load instantly, work on mobile devices, and require no account or personal information. We designed them for travelers who are in the middle of planning — you might be on your phone comparing flights during lunch break, or on your laptop the night before a trip finalizing your packing list. Speed and simplicity are our priorities because that is what actually gets used in real planning scenarios, versus feature-heavy tools that require a learning curve and an account setup.
